In this book, Judit Polgár tells the story of her meteoric rise from grandmaster to top-ten superstar. An evolution that transformed her personal journey to the top into a roadmap for all those who want to excel in chess.
The chess world viewed this stage of her career with a mixture of admiration and respect, and it was during this period—from 1992 to 2000—that she played memorable matches and games and demonstrated her talent against players of the caliber of Boris Spassky, Alexei Shirov, Viswanathan Anand, Gari Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, among others.
From grandmaster to top-ten player, she also gives us an insight into her and her family's close relationship with Bobby Fischer.
This review of Judit Polgár's career is divided into three installments: How I Beat Bobby Fischer's Record is the first (covering the years 1984 to 1991), followed by From Grandmaster to Top Ten (from 1991 to 2000), and A Game of Queens (from 2001 to 2009). Each installment stands alone, representing very different stages of her career.
