John Nunn is one of the most highly regarded chess writers in the world. In this book he has carefully selected thirty modern games to help the reader understand the most important aspects of chess and illustrate the modern principles.

In fact, every play is explained using words that everyone can understand. Jargons are avoided as far as possible.

Almost all examples have been selected from the 90 games, and show how to develop the Great Teachers current basic ideas. Special emphasis is placed on the general principles that readers can use in their own games, and in-depth analyzes are offered only when necessary.

Each game contains many lessons, but essentially aims to guide the reader through the most important ideas of each phase of the game. The thirty items are grouped thematically in those openings and middlegame themes and final most representative.

John Nunn, renowned English grandmaster, has won four individual gold medals and three silver medals in different collective Olympics. In the 1988-89 World Cup he ranked sixth, ahead of several former world champions.

Considered one of the authors of most prestigious chess world, two of his books have been awarded by the British Chess Federation as the best book of the year.

He has written numerous works, which published The House of Chess Chess Grand Masters, play by play (2007) and Learn Chess Tactics (2005).
