The merit and significance of the chess Pomar achievements have created a need, a requirement to disclose the testimony and the data must know the Spanish hero of the 64 squares.

In the history of chess, never was in Spain a case like Arthur Pomar. The impact it had on the media was only comparable with that of other idols of masses of Spanish sport, such as Indurain in cycling, tennis or currently Santana Fernando Alonso in Formula One.

Arturo Pomar did much more for the spread of Spanish chess tournament all promoters, federations and chess players of the time together. None of them despite their laudable efforts, had managed to pierce through the Spanish chess borders and talking about him worldwide.

Like wildfire the news that a 11 year old boy would contest the Individual Chess Championship of Spain to be held in Madrid arrived. This was the beginning of the immense media coverage of chess in Spain that was the center of the child Arturito Pomar. It happened in 1942.
