150 years since the birth of Siegbert Tarrasch Chess House publishes a real gem of chess literature ... Three hundred games of chess, first published in Castilian.
A native of Breslau as the great Anderssen, Siegbert Tarrasch (1862-1934) was for more than two decades one of the best players in the world. After debuting in Hamburg 1887, where he shared second place, Breslau earned between 1889 and 1894 Leipzig consecutive five major international tournaments, which earned him the unofficial title of world champion of tournaments.
Also, at this early stage of his career he crushed in match Taubenhaus (Nuremberg 1892) and Walbrodt (Nuremberg 1894), tying Chigorin (St. Petersburg 1893) a grand meeting should have won.
He could have played a match with Steinitz for the world title, but his professional duties as a doctor stopped him.
It has been accused of being pedantic Tarrasch and dogmatic. But it has also been called Preceptor of Germany, a rhetorical title that may have spread to most of the world. His teachings were, and still remain, a huge value for the high educational content of his thoughts and his relentless pursuit of self-criticism. And precisely that value justify certain dogmatism in a time when there were few theoretical formulations apart from Steinitz, confusing and difficult to assimilate. The highly expressive and didactic ability Tarrasch made accessible to countless players early, strategic rules and still existing concepts such as centralization and mobility of the pieces, while others, such as the physical occupation of the center with pawns, were corrected and overcome by hypermodern.
The masterpieces of the Tarrasch chess career in the tens, and instructional and glowing reviews these three hundred items that thoroughly analyzes are equally masterful. All positions was interested and could not hide a genuine enthusiasm for their technical findings or those of their opponents.
In this great work, published in 1895, followed the modern game of chess (1912) and manual initiation The game of chess (1931). All of them were a great success in its time and even today are still reprinted and translated into numerous languages.
