This is the fourth and last volume of Mikhail Tal's complete collection of games, commented on by Misha himself and compiled by his friend Kirillov for the Russian publisher Retorika. It covers his biography and artidas from 1982 to 1992.
The "magician of Riga" analyzes his best games from this period, most of which have not been previously published in Spanish, and autobiographically reviews the different stages of his career, stopping at the most important moments.
From 1982 to 1988 Tal continued to achieve tournament wins and exceptional tournament results. His triumph in the Saint John Blitz World Championship stands out enormously, ahead of other great champions, such as Kasparov, Karpov, Yussupow, Vaganian, Ehlvest, Chernin, Kiril Georgiev, his victory in Sochi 1982, his second shared position in the fortissimo Reykjavik 1987 tournament, his third place at the 1982 Moscow Interzonal, his third place at the 1985 Taxco Interzonal and his third place at the 1988 Reykjavik World Cup. It is true that from 1989 he started a small decline in his game, although he continued to win tournaments like the one in Buenos Aires 1991.
His last official tournament was in Barcelona 1992, and still there, with a strong payroll, he achieved 50% of the points and produced several spectacular victories.
Tal's unmistakable style, imaginative, unafraid of taking risks, his wit and his empathy with fans made him the most charismatic of world champions.
In this fourth volume we publish a list with all of Tal's award-winning games in tournaments, courtesy of the historian and popularizer Julián Alonso and we put together in a special chapter all these brilliant games, which could not be published in previous volumes, with comments from himself Misha. Likewise, we offer readers different testimonies of those who
They met him and other notable games. In particular, Dvoretsky's article on the third game of the 1960 World Cup between Tal and Botvinnik is of extraordinary interest, because of the high analytical value of the styles of both players. In addition, his disciple, Alexei Shirov, analyzes in depth the last official match of the tournament (Barcelona), in which he defeated
Akopian brilliantly. And as always, we offer readers a complete photo album of this period and his entire career.
"He was a true virtuous: he obtained pleasure trusting in his phenomenal combinative vision, and in every game he found paradoxical solutions" (Botvinnik).
