Chess. The caro-kann defense - Max Euwe
The Caro-Kann defense did not arouse many sympathies among the chess players of the early twentieth century, and by those years it lay almost in total oblivion.
It was rarely practiced and was more of a cabinet curiosity than a weapon to fight in tournaments.
It was around the year 1920 when Nimzowitsch, Capablanca, Flohr and other great masters began to pay attention to him, taking it out of oblivion and introducing it into the practice of tournaments, often with resounding success.
